After School

Master Gardeners have been providing enrichment to over 200 elementary students in the After School Program for more than 10 years. The program is held January to March usually on Wednesdays at Highland, Meadowlark, Boulder, McKinley and Big Sky elementary schools.

The students, organized and presented by the Master Gardeners, enjoy various hands-on projects utilizing many recycled items related to botany and horticulture. The program includes two different sessions. The first gives students the opportunity to discover the life cycle of bulbs and plant bulbs. The second focuses on seeds and cuttings where they create terrariums, and plant cup-heads with grass.

Master Gardeners Mary McLane, Vonnie Bell, and JoAnne Roach are coordinators of the program. If you would like to be involved, contact Mary McLaneto be included in the sessions which usually start in January.
